Leaving Cadets
We’re sorry to see you go. Whether you’re moving on to new adventures, joining the ADF, or just taking a break, we want to ensure your departure is smooth and hassle-free.

Leaving Cadets In Four Steps
We understand that leaving cadets is a big decision, and we want to make the process as easy as possible. Whether moving on to new opportunities or just taking a break, following these steps will ensure everything is finalised smoothly.
Step One: Complete the C067 Form
Before officially leaving, please complete the C067—Cessation of Participation as a Cadet form. This will help us update our records appropriately. Once completed, please hand it to the unit Administration Officer (ADMINO) with notice.
Step Two: Provide Notice
Whilst optional, we appreciate at least two weeks’ notice before you leave. Why does this matter?
- It gives the Administration Officer time to process paperwork and update records.
- It allows for a proper send-off—you’ve been part of the team, and we want to acknowledge that!
- It makes it easier to return gear, sort out any admin, and wrap things up properly.
Step Three: Return Your Gear
Before you go, you’ll need to return any Commonwealth-owned gear that was issued to you, including:
- Uniforms (AMCU, DPNU, ceremonial dress, etc.)
- Field gear (webbing, sleeping bag, rucksack, etc.)
- Any other issued equipment (radios, safety gear, etc.)
What if something is lost or damaged?
Accidents happen! If something is missing or damaged, let the Quartermaster know immediately. They’ll help work out a solution.

Step Four: Farewells
Once your C067 form is processed and your gear is returned, your Officer Commanding will finalise your departure.
- You might quickly meet or chat with the Officer Commanding to confirm everything is sorted.
- Your departure will be recorded, and you’ll receive confirmation that everything is complete.
- If there’s a farewell parade or event, you’ll be invited so the unit can adequately thank you for your time and contributions.

Farewell
Thank You For Being Part Of Our Unit
We hope you’ve had a fantastic time in cadets—learning new skills, making friends, and taking on challenges. No matter where you go next, your time in the Australian Army Cadets will always be part of your journey.
